How to Host a Cornhole Tournament for Charity

A cornhole (or bean bag game) tournament is a great way to raise money for a charity event-one of the reasons that the bean bag game is a great event for charity tournaments is that all kinds of people can participate in it. When you put together a charity event, you want to invite a lot of people from all age ranges-not just individuals but also entire families. This creates an environment in which people can have a lot of fun and they will be more interested in donating to your charity. Cornhole is also an easy game to put together-all that you need are a couple of boards and enough bean bags for everyone and you are good to go. With all age ranges playing in your cornhole tournament you can have an enjoyable day and raise plenty of money.

To start out-you are going to need to get the materials for the cornhole tournament. These are very simple-either buy a set of platforms or build them yourself. The things that you need to build a cornhole board are a four foot by two foot plank of wood, some small pieces of wood to act as legs on one end of the underside (making the cornhole board tilt upwards), and whatever tools you need to attach the legs to the board and to cut a hole. After you get the shape of the cornhole board put together, all that you need to do is paint some kind of design on it-you can paint the world "cornhole" on the board or you can paint the boards different colors for the different teams.

With two boards, you can set the boards about thirty feet away from each other and when people play they can throw to the opposite board-or you can have both players/teams throw to the same board and have the rules allow knocking the other players’ bean bags off of the board or into the hole. There are a lot of possible variations on the rules-think about the rules that are available for the different versions of cornhole and choose which set you will be abiding by before the tournament begins. Make sure that the rules are available for all to read in some easily visible place during the game.

You can set up the cornhole boards in any kind of place, but the best place to run your charity Cornhole tournament would probably be in some kind of large grassy yard or a park environment-someplace where there are lots of benches and chairs in the area from which people can watch the tournament while eating, and someplace which looks nice and where kids who are not playing in the tournament will be able to run around, play and have fun. A cornhole tournament can be a very memorable event for everyone concerned-have someone who is in charge of the judging and the running of the tournament, someone who will be able to announce the rules at the beginning as well as the beginning and ending of the various innings of the game, and write the ongoing score of the game in a place where everyone can easily see.

If you follow these ideas you should have no trouble putting together a quick and easy cornhole tournament which people of all ages will be able to have fun playing in and which will put people in a relaxed and easy mood which will make them more willing to donate to your charity. The entry fee for the tournament can go to the charity, and you can also leave a donation box open for donations over the course of the day. Good luck with your cornhole charity tournament!
